Judi’s House

We strive to support the whole family in having a common language to bring back home to talk with children about death and grief. Judi’s House is mindful that grief can look different depending on how your special person died. For example, we know that someone grieving the loss of a person who died due to a chronic illness can look a little different than someone who died by suicide or a sudden accident, or medical crisis. We take this into consideration when we build our grief groups, so you are better able to connect with others who have experienced a similar grief experience. Our grief groups typically take place quarterly and are closed groups, meaning the people you start group with are the people you finish group with. This is done so that you and your children can see familiar faces each time you come to Judi’s House. Judi’s House is also able to provide therapeutic referrals to community therapists who specialize in grief and trauma.

Areas of Expertise & Specialties:

  • Grief services for children and their grieving families beginning at age 3 up to age 25 years old
  • Assessment: a counselor meets with individual family members to learn their needs
  • Group counseling: individuals meet in a group of peers and receive education, coping skills, caregiving skills, and peer support
    • Pathfinder’s Program: therapeutic grief groups for children and the adults who take care of those children’
    • Connections Program: groups that offer on-going support, built from Pathfinder’s Program
  • Individual, family, & couples counseling: short-term grief counseling services

Interested in working together?

To begin the enrollment process, we ask the legal guardian of the children to call us and complete a brief phone inquiry to gather initial information. It is ideal to schedule a time for this call with us via email; we also recommend waiting a few weeks after the death loss of your special person to get the best understanding of what your grief looks like. Once we talk by phone, if our services are a good fit, we will send an application packet to the caregiver to gather more information about the family. Once the completed packet is returned, we will schedule a family assessment appointment to take place here at Judi’s House where everyone will meet one on one with a grief counselor and get a feel for our services.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My belief is that with clients I can be present, loving and accepting them where they are at, and listening to their thoughts and ideas to create change.  I encourage them to use tools to relieve stress and anxiety, communicate with better skills, sort through and let go of old patterns, beliefs, and even experiences from the past to create a better life and enjoy living.
